Project / product name: gluED
Team leader: Jan Pecka
Challenge: 2. Patient Education Machine
Problem: We need to identify patients suitable for education program around their hospital interactions such as medical checks scheduling. Can you build a program that would automate identification of suitable patients based on various parameters from IKEM’s information system?
Solution: We built a script that identifies patients bad compensation of their diabetes and marks them for an additional education, based on their HbA1c dynamics.
Impact: It can motivate and overall improve life of diabetes patients and take off the burden of exhausting process of scheduling meetings with the patients that lies on the nurses.
Feasibility & financials: We think it is feasible, because it connects multiple functioning systems together. Final project could cost 500000 CZK for development. Cost of maintenance is calculated from reservation service and code upkeep.
What is new about your solution?: It takes a different approach to managing care of patients with diabetes, trying to automate the educational part of it and therefore make the life of healthcare staff easier.
What you have built at the hackathon - text explanation + code (e.g. GitHub link): We build application that loads patient data from a csv file provided by IKEM. From that data it makes decisions which patients to invite and which don't really need it. As a result, it exports a csv file for further processing.
What you had before the hackathon, please mention open source as well: None, we have built it from scratch.
What comes next and what you wish to achieve: We would love to implement more parameters and make more precise and evidence based decision tree, that would recommend specific educational materials and courses based on the medical records.
