Project / product name: Wounds Prime
Team leader: Martin Georgiu
Challenge: no. 6: Wound image processing /Thermal imaging camera image comparison
Problem: Many doctors and their patients encounter issues related to the recording of injuries, burns, bedsores, etc. The problem is that devices that can take suitable images for graphical analysis, including mobile thermal cameras, are widely available nowadays, but the tools for working with them are not accessible. Lack of knowledge and lack of a simple way to operate such photo documentation also does not make the work of medical personnel any easier.
Solution: Wounds Prime provides integration to hospital systems within the FHIR standard. It provides a solution that documents and analyses, saves time and administration for hospital staff, provides data archives, statistics and improves patient care. This multi-platform application as an on-device solution analyses wounds offline (measurements, colour classification, etc.). Our solution is scalable and allows seamless integration of other wound analysis features within the same workflow.
Impact: Our solution will allow modern wound status monitoring with minimal administration. On the other side, it will also improve patient care by reducing the recording procedure time and displaying historical data instantaneously by interfacing with the hospital system. Integration with the FHIR interface will also enable integration into global health data processing. Wounds Prime is also a very affordable solution due to the use of cutting-edge technology in its development.
Feasibility & financials: The application saves time and money by providing a multi-platform solution and delegating specific administrative and analytical tasks to IT. It’s also a great first opportunity to introduce the FHIR interface into the healthcare system, which is unstoppably approaching. The size and scale of the app will allow you to safely try out the new interface due to the specific focus of the app.
What you have built at the hackathon - text explanation + code (e.g. GitHub link): Flutter mobile app for scanning wounds with a C++ program inside for analysing them and finally uploading the report to FHIR. https://github.com/killalad/wounds-app https://github.com/killalad/wounds-prime-cpp
What you had before the hackathon, please mention open source as well: More or less nothing, apart from the integration of C++ into Flutter.
What comes next and what you wish to achieve: We would like to continue in the development of this app and try to achieve most of our goals mentioned in Future improvements.
