Project / product name: PathoSync
Team leader: David Zeman
Challenge: 1. Icebreaker AZ23
Problem: Not only pathology laboratories are overflowing with excel files, which make effective search and data access nearly impossible. It is infeasible to use advanced statistics or any analysis on data stored this way. The unfortunate result is lost of doctors time, level of assessment and consequently, peoples lives.
Solution: The PathoSync software is a solid base for complex pathologist platforms. With the use of custom mapping, any laboratory can project their data into FHIR7 standard, which soon will be mandatory worldwide. This makes the digitalization process smoother. The connection with InterSystems assures quality and implements many healthcare features. Furthermore, the GDPR norms are strictly followed using the FHIR server based in Europe, so the usage of software follows the European standards.
Impact: for data in separate files. Possibility of sharing data between different medical centers Base for future statistical evaluation of data. Unification of data storage
Feasibility & financials: The project is not financially demanding. It requires only the hosting of web applications or alternatively, it can be implemented into existing systems. There is little cost to this besides the license. Due to the implementation of the FHIR standard, it can easily be implemented within the existing database systems.
What is new about your solution?: The solution is new. There is no solution in the Czech Republic like this. Due to European standards and Hospital data integrity, it is impossible to use any existing 3rd party databases and products. We believe the use of the FHIR server, even with its complexity, is step in right direction. Due to this standard, sharing of data with other laboratories will be easier. That is our contribution.
What you have built at the hackathon - text explanation + code (e.g. GitHub link): https://github.com/davidzemancz/ikem23_react https://github.com/davidzemancz/ikem23_wapi
What you had before the hackathon, please mention open source as well: We had no code nor knowledge of this problem.
What comes next and what you wish to achieve: We would like to move forward with completing the implementation of the basis for the complex database system, which can be utilized within the laboratories in the Czech heal system.
